Comparing Canadian New Urbanist and Conventional Surburban Neighborhoods

The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Commission (CMHC) released a report today highlighting research that may be of interest to urban design folks, not to mention any city-dwelling citizen who is concerned with their quality of life.  The research compares several ‘New Urbanist’ housing developments throughout Canada with more conventional developments to see if there are noticeable improvements including pedestrian friendly walkability, encouraging cycling and transit use, more public/green space and access to affordable housing.  We encourage you to read (or skim) over it and let us know what you think of the issue.
